St. Luke's Humphreys Diabetes Center: Meridian

St. Luke's Humphreys Diabetes Center gives you access to diabetes educators, behavioral health specialists, and specialized medical care. We provide you with the tools to approach diabetes with a sense of confidence. In addition, we provide many of these resources in regional clinics to better serve you.

The team at St. Luke's Humphreys Diabetes Center offers consultation, education, and support to both children and adults to help you manage your diabetes and live a healthy, active life.

    Biography

    Elizabeth Augustine, LCSW has worked with children, adults, and families with chronic mental health concerns and chronic medical conditions. She has also worked with trauma patients and practices Eye Movement and Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy.

    Elizabeth earned her bachelor's degree in psychology from Seattle University and her master's degree in social work from Northwest Nazarene University.

    Susan Iwasa MSN RN CDCES is a certified diabetes care and education specialist with over 30 years of experience. She builds a trusting relationship with her patients and develops a plan of care to mitigate risks and help them live safer, better, and longer lives.

    In her free time, Susan enjoys hiking, biking, swimming, gardening, and spending time with her family.

    Biography

    Rachel K. Myers, RD, LD, CDE is a certified diabetes educator and a patient educator at St. Luke's Humphreys Diabetes Center. She has worked as an inpatient clinical dietitian, and has experience with heart disease, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, kidney disease, wound care, and geriatrics.

    Rachel served in the Navy as a helicopter mechanic and plane captain, and in the Army as a platoon leader and military intelligence analyst. She is a recipient of the Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist and the Army Commendation Medal.

    Biography

    Andrea Rice is a registered dietitian with an interest in diabetes care and education.

    Andrea earned her first bachelor's degree in health education from Boise State University and her second in dietetics from Idaho State University. In her free time, she enjoys playing soccer, cooking, hiking, and skiing.

    Biography

    Julie Walker, RDN, LD, CDE has over 30 years as a certified diabetes educator. She participates in local, regional, and national campaigns to improve the lives of people with diabetes. She serves as the consumer protection coordinator for the Idaho Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics to ensure the public receives safe, effective, and reliable nutrition services.

  • Pediatric Behavioral Health

    Biography

    Amy Walters, PhD is a clinical health psychologist and the director of Behavioral Health Services for St. Luke's Humphreys Diabetes Center. She works with patients to address emotional and behavioral factors that impact health and chronic disease. She also works with St. Luke's Children's Hospital as part of the Children's Integrative Medicine and pediatric pain management programs.

    Dr. Walters earned both her master's degree and her PhD from Utah State University and has over 20 years of experience working in clinical and community settings with adult and pediatric patients. She is a board member of the Idaho Psychological Association and serves as Idaho's public education coordinator to the American Psychological Association. She serves as the psycho-social director for Idaho Diabetes Youth Programs (Camp Hodia).

    Biography

    Leanne Wentworth, RD, LD, CDCES is a certified diabetes care and education specialist with years of experience in health and wellness coaching. She is passionate about helping people to successfully manage their health conditions and improve their quality of life.

    Leanne earned her bachelor’s degree in clinical nutrition from University of California, Davis; and her master’s degree in nutrition and exercise physiology from Washington State University, Spokane. She also served in the Peace Corps for rural health development in Zamia.

    In her free time, Leanne she loves getting outdoors, dancing, crafting, and spending time with friends and family.
